During June and September Contoy island is visited by magnificent Whale-Sharks that make of this place one of the most popular in the Yucatan Peninsula.
This attraction will let you know one of the largest fish on earth today, the Whale-Shark with 49 feet in length that migrates to Holbox in summer as he prefers waters of warm temperature for feeding and mate. This magnificent animal is docile and friendly; he feeds with plankton and usually swims with jacks or rays.
This activity is an adventure that you cannot miss as we’ll take you on our boats very close these giant sharks, you‘ll swim with them as well as being in touch with local flora and fauna. The Whale-Sharks are very tranquil animals and they don’t get worry when approaching divers or swimmers, although we guarantee the most safety environs and experienced guides with you all the time.
