Description:
Welcome to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon, built in the late 1800’s and located in Tecoh, Yucatan. Join us on a marvelous journey back in time to the golden era of the sisal industry via a tour of one of the best preserved haciendas in the state.
This charming hacienda, located in the heartland of the henequen industry, will give you a glimpse of what was once a fully operational Henequen Hacienda, and teach you about the transformation process from plant to fiber and from fiber to finished product. You will also have the opportunity to see the antique machinery that has been rescued from the ravages of time and precisely rebuilt to operational standards.
Your tour will also include a visit to a typical Mayan House, where you will learn about how Mayans of that time lived and still do today in some areas. You will also get to see the way they built their homes to withstand the weather conditions and how they cooked. Next you'll have the chance to visit a cenote and swim in its cool waters. At the end of the tour, you are welcomed into the hacienda’s charming restaurant to savor some delicious Yucatecan specialties.
INCLUDED: This tour includes round trip transportation, guided tour, welcome cocktail, visit around the hacienda, explanation about "Raspa" process, visit to the driving force museum, Mayan House, visit and 1 hour of free time for swimming at the Dzul- Ha sink hole (cenote), swimming pool, and three course lunch at a regional restaurant.
